30 Day Challenge- Week 1
Its not everyday I start a 30 day challenge to get in better shape.LOL!In fact, it isn’t even every decade but, here I am using the beginning of a New Year to find the real me underneath my “protective layers” and enjoy the freedom of a healthy and fit body in 2012! So I chose LA Boxing as my gym, and it has been everything I expected and MORE. From the moment I walked in the door, the boutique gym feel and personal attention I received, stood out. The upbeat music, friendly faces and shapes of all sizes was different than every gym I have been into in Colorado. No longer were there “picture perfect” barbies and kens surrounding me , making me feel ashamed for attempting to be in a gym without 0% body fat, but average people beating bags and working with trainers with red faces and dripping sweat! Finally! A place where I can go and start working out, just as I am. I dont have to have a matching outfit or perfect gym attire – just a good attitude and the personal motivation to enhance my self image. So, I walk into my first session of the 30 day challenge, Ashley weights me and measures me, all the way reminding me this is just a starting point- never pointing out the negative or the obvious. I have Ashley Bullerdick , as my trainer through this 30 day challenge. She built me a nutritional chart to start my first week of healthy eating, a recommendation of workouts and schedule of classes and a fitness assessment (which didnt take long, as you can easily assess being WAY out of shape) and I am off! At first, I think I am off my rocker – what was I thinking, I cant do this. But then with some encouragement I start my workout. First I take a cardio kickboxing class, and I can not believe I actually completed it without hurling on my shoes. The instructor made sure I didnt get too far behind , walking me through coordination and form with an encouraging smile. Then this week, I worked out with Ashley as she developed a personal training workout. Funny, how she knew the exact areas I wanted to lose! By mid week I was SORE! I mean my body was in such shock after years of hibernation, it was easier for me to run down the stairs then walk. There were parts of my body I didnt even know I had, that were sore. My trainer checked in with me, the class instructors kept an eye on all the participants to ensure we were all ok while working out and today… today is Friday! I have completed 2 personal training sessions, 3 classes and starting to really pay attention to the nutritional guidelines provided to me at my weigh in. I am no longer hobbling to walk and I am starting to see results in almost every area of my body. Next week, I stick totally to my nutritional schedule and look forward to the pounds melting off! LA Boxing has made me feel excited to workout. I never feel like I stick out like a sore thumb or am too unfit to do anything when I come in to LA Boxing, I just am encouraged and supported to try – and to push myself to be my BEST! That is why I can say that I will not quit on THIS challenge because I dont feel like I am being set up to fail – LA Boxing and the staff has helped me feel good about enhancing myself, one sweaty workout at a time. Thanks guys & gals! See you next week .oh- and Happy Friday !
