When I first heard that LA Boxing Georgetown was opening down the street from where I live I was pretty excited. I kept hearing radio ads for a “1,000 calorie workout in an hour” and I couldn’t help but take advantage of the free class offer. I was pretty intimidated when I first walked in. All I saw was a boxing ring, gym equipment, and about 20 or so boxing bags spread throughout the gym. I freaked out…just a little. The entire staff was extremely friendly and completely willing and able to ensure that I had nothing to be afraid of. They were even gracious enough to lend me wraps and gloves for my first workout. They taught me how to properly wrap my wraps, and fitted me with the right sized boxing gloves. As for the workout – I did a complete hour long kick boxing class with Ron. All I can is “Holy sweet baby Jesus!” I literally felt like I was going to die! I kept on truckin’ even though I wanted to quit and walk out. I am SOOOOOO glad I persevered and gave it my all! I can honestly say that I have never had a workout where I left soaked in sweat! It was THEE best workout I have ever had! I’ve received so many “Oh my god! You look so fab!” from friends, family, my partner, and even strangers! All I know is I must be doing something right! LA Boxing Georgetown is helping me bring sexy back! ;)

P.S. – I’ve been a loyal LA Boxing member fan for over a year now. Best decision EVER!

I joined with a bunch of friends and we all went to the first class together. I don’t know about my friends but I was feeling a little intimidated at the thought of walking into a new boxing gym at first. I called to get more details before the first class and the woman I spoke with was so nice and welcoming that I felt a little better right away. I quickly learned that it was silly to feel intimidated, and of course once class starts everything leaves your mind but what you are working on. Everyone that works for the gym and every client I have had the opportunity to speak with have been nice as well as helpful. Positivity is absolutely radiating from this place. It may sound odd to people that haven’t experienced it yet, but it’s true. The instructors are knowledgeable and work you hard but the amazing feeling I got from doing things I didn’t even know my body could do was well worth it! I’m going to do everything I can to make LA Boxing a regular part of my life from now on, I can’t thank them enough!

I thought it was going to be tough….boy was that an understatement! By the time the warm-up was over, I was ready to stop. I was breathing heavier than I ever have, my face was flushed, my heart racing….I still had 40 minutes left of the class! I was stopping every 3 or 4 minutes to get water, but also to get a break. That first class was brutal!

    See Randy fat.
See Randy take LA Boxing class
See Randy pathetic, panting, but having fun.
See Randy three months later, 20 pounds lighter, much cuter, kicking ass, barely winded and still having fun.

I signed up for my 1st class a week before I actually went…I was to scared to go! Once I finally got up the nerve, I sat in my car…too intimidated to go in. A friend of mine called and asked what I was up to. Needless to say, she talked me in to the gym. I took MMA with Rick and thought I was going to die!! All 262lbs of me didn’t move, stretch, breath, or hit very well. Rick encouraged me through the whole class. The rush I had at the end of the class was the best energy I have ever felt. I was hooked! Nine months later, I am down 58 pounds, training for a fight, and learning to push my body like I never have before.

My first day at LA Boxing in sacrament was with Angie Zuniga and she told me that she was going to work me like I had never been worked before. And man was she right. I didn’t even last the whole hour because I felt like I was going to get sick. I played soccer for 13 years and swam for 6 and was used to running and sprinting, but man I had never experienced anything like a boxing workout. We didn’t even get to boxing technique I died during the warm up. But I am thankful and it gave me a challenge to go back and try again and I did and I already feel stronger than I was before. THANK YOU LA BOXING and ANGIE!!!! =D

I started working out at LA Boxing in September of 2009 . About 11 months prior to joining I weighed 294 lbs . I started with something very low impact , water aerobics if you’d believe it , 2 times a week . When I saw the lbs coming off from that (40 to be exact) I thought I would “kick it up a notch” . I was shopping at Harris Teeter in Herndon and saw the sign. I walked in and met Pat and set up my first class. I did a Wednesday kickboxing class with Carlos , it killed me :) . I almost threw up. I came quite close actually at the end. I did sign up after that day. I remember Pat trying to talk to me after class , but I was too wiped to pay much attention and I was trying desperately not to puke. So here I stand now a total of 140lbs lost from the beginning of my journey , in the best shape of my life.

I joined a few weeks after the gym had opened in South Loop, Chicago. I remember walking by and watching the classes through the window. I didn’t even go to my first class the day I joined. I used to go to boxing classes before, so I knew I’d like it, I just had to work up the nerve to go to my first class. I went to my first class the following Saturday, almost a whole week after I joined. The first thing they told us to do was grab a jump rope and jump for 3 minutes. I could probably do about 10 jumps, then trip, then a few more, then trip again. The 3 minutes were dreadful and felt like they lasted forever. Then came circuit drills like push-ups, jumping jacks, high knees. Then shadow boxing. Midway through the warm-up (and I repeat warm-up, not workout), I had to run the bathroom to throw up. During the actual boxing workout, I had to take breaks after throwing just a few punches. I told myself to keep at it and take breaks. By the end of the class, I was soaked head to toe and completely exhausted. But as soon as I got home, I felt so incredibly energized and was filled with so much adrenaline. I came back again and again, and now I’m addicted, and 40lbs lighter than I was when I joined.

What I remember about my first class is that my hand was shaking so hard at the end of it that I could barely sign my contract. But I did, and though it took me a week to go back for the second and third classes respectively, what I love about going regularly now is the energy from the classes. Everyone has had a first class, Everyones died a couple times, and made it back. Cheese alert- that’s what cool about it, solidarity with people you don’t know except for class. One of my instructors always says “hate me now, thank me later” right before he kicks the class’s ass. I don’t think I’d want it any other way!

I walked in day one and said I wanted to train to fight and be a fighter. I wasn’t really taken seriously but then I met Marcus Reaves and the rest is history. Thank you Marcus for believing in me and teaching me to believe in myself and the power I have within.

I first signed a membership without taking or viewing a class. In my mind I knew it’s what I wanted to do so signing that contract would make me go to class ( I hate to have money go down the drain). But my first class was a kickboxing class. Mind you I haven’t worked out in a while. After the warm up I was dying, I could barely catch my breath. All the kicking and punching was too much for me. I had to go sit in the bathroom for about 10 minutes just to catch my breath. I came back out and finished the class because I’m no quitter. I didn’t take another kickboxing class for about 3 months. I only took took boxing. After a few months of boxing I learned how to control my breathing and 10 months later ALL i want to take is kickboxing. I love the trainers at the gym because they make you work out. They make sure your doing the workout correctly also. So shout out to LA Boxing Merrillville, IN. I’m very pleased with the results it has on my body :)

It was a saturday morning with a full class for boxing with Fernando at LA Boxing Wrigleyville. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t know anyone but then Fernando came out, the music started playing, and the class began…60 minutes later sweating like I have never sweat before, weak but awake, and my arms feeling like they were going to fall off – it was the most cleansed I have ever felt in the longest time BUT I did the whole 60 minutes and didn’t stop. I thanked Fernando for kicking my a** and proceeded to the front desk to get information on becoming a member.
After 4 months of personal training and classes, I wore a size 14/16 pant, I now feel stronger, healthier, I have biceps, and I now proudly wear a size 8 pant!! Hell yeah! Thank you LA Boxing, Robbie, and Fernando!

I went on a Wednesday night and took Aliece’s Kickboxing class in Orland Park. She looked like she was 16 years old and tiny. I honestly thought that it was not going to be a challenging workout. WOW!! I was totally wrong!!! It was more than just challenging. I was drenched in sweat! Even my ponytail was wet. I knew that these classes were the best workout I had ever been through. I signed up that Friday. I went on the website and saw that Aliece had competed in martial arts. I’ve been working out at L.A. Boxing for almost 6 months and have lost 37 pounds. I’m really excited with my progress and with the encouragement from all the staff!

I joined the gym 3 days ago, immediately after a free class. Eric, the instructor for the class kept me motivated the entire time. I decided to join LA Boxing instead of a traditional gym because I wanted to find a workout that would keep me interested and keep me wanting more. I really enjoy the warm atmosphere they promote and the clean enviroment. I can’t wait for the next class!!!

My first class was three weeks ago. I needed a different more chalenging workout then i have been doing for the last 4 months. I walked into this class a little imtimidated, but I walked out feeling really good. The kickboxing class was one of the best workouts I have ever done. I am now addicted and I go about 4-5 times a week. The trainers at the orland Park location are nice and inviting, they all have such great knowledge and I look forward to working with them for a long time!

I have learned to respect the workout, enjoy the workout, and look forward to the workout. LA Boxing provides the motivation and environment that I need to get and stay in shape.

Back in June of 2010 I started a new career with a pretty exciting company. They opened a new office in Cary, NC. Because I enjoy working out at lunch time, I did a search for gyms in a 5 mile radius around my new office. Quietly I was in search for a boxing gym and to my surprise I found LA Boxing.

I had began learning how to box at a small gym in Raleigh back in 2006 but had to put that on hold. So I was thrilled to find LA Boxing. My first day was a ton of fun. My instructor was Nasser who has since worked with me significantly to improve my boxing skill set. I’m very excited to be part of the LA Boxing family and working hard so that I can compete in my first amateur bout.

Oh yeah, not to mention I’m in the best shape of my life! The lunch workout from 12-1 Monday through Friday is a heck of a workout and the members are all getting to know each other which makes it that much more fun!

    Thanks LA Boxing Cary, NC!

My day 1 was a rude awakening on how out of shape I was. This class was exactly what I needed. The coach kept me going thru the entire class. I was working muscles I thought disappeared! If I just went to a regular gym I would have had to spend 3 hours to lose the equivalent amount of calories or just given up. This class really does burn 1000 calories and relieves stress!

LA Boxing is definitely not just a typical gym workout. As a college student, the late night pizzas and snacks for all-nighters can pile on the pounds and suck my energy. I left the gym, albeit with smelly hands, feeling amazing. I was looking for something fun and engaging, something I’d stick with more than just running on a treadmill, and I found it. It was brutal, but I was smiling the whole time!

I joined LA Boxing in Commack, NY back in October 2010. A little over a month ago (February 26, 2011), our gym started a “Biggest Loser” Contest. I vowed I was going to win. At first I was doing it for the prizes, but then, I started losing the weight and the prizes have become a bonus. I am looking good, people notice it, but most of all I feel great. I had broken my leg and needed surgery to fix it about 7 years ago and for the past 2 years my leg had been hurting. I thought it was just me getting older (now 28), but I was wrong, it was the weight I had gained over the past 3-4 years (about 35 lbs.)

At the beginning of the contest I weighed in at 235 lbs. and it’s now 5 weeks into the competition with 3 more weeks to go and so far I have lost 37 lbs. (Current weight: 198). My goal was to get to 188 lbs., but with the amount of weight I have been losing I feel I can surpass my initial goal. I literally feel like a new person.

I use to go to a regular old gym. I eventually got tired of it and quit going. I went nearly a year without a workout and I gained all the weight I had lost and then some. One day I woke up and realized it was time for me to get moving again. So I started looking up different gyms online. I was looking for something that offered more than just workout machines. I needed motivation as well. I wanted to have fun and get a killer workout. That is when I came across LA boxing. I read many reviews and decided to give it a try. I came in for my first free class. I was very nervous because I had no idea of what to expect. I thought I would be the most out of shape person in the room and then feel very crappy about my self image. But I was wrong. I found that there were people of different sizes and levels at this gym. I felt very welcomed, motivated and got a workout that made me waddle like a duck for the next couple of days. My search had ended. I signed a three year contract that very same day!

My first class was August of 2008 and when class started i was a little overwhelmed, but the next day I realized I couldnt wait to go back! The instructors were so patient and helpful. Needless to say Ive been a member ever since, and that one class led me to a passion I never would have even considered otherwise. I started Muay Thai fighting through LA Boxing, something I never would have done otherwise!

i went into l.a. boxing workout was a great mixture of power and explosion, great cardio but the big kicker is its more practical than just throwing around weight all day or running to nowhere and really not losing much. you start out as a warmup, kick some butt and then cool down. in betwen doing abwork and yoga/ pilates type move so drop every other gym membership youve ever had and hit this all in one training program.

My husband wanted to join LA Boxing, but I was very hesitant about it. The general manager at the time convinced me that I would love it. So I showed up the next week for my first class and loved it. I enjoyed getting the whole body workout and felt good about myself when I was done. I have been working out at LA Boxing for the last year and it has changed my life. Thank you LA Boxing.

The LA Boxing in Herndon, across from where I work had been staring me in the face for over a year, since it opened, I had stayed away figuring I had a gym membership closer to my home and I was 40 what did I was to old to get into that. After I year of trying to keep up with my 1 year old, and the realization that I wasn’t using my gym membership, and I was pushing the 300lb mark, I had change things. So I tried the free class, and in the “warm up” I was looking at the clock wondering what had I done, I still have 50 minutes of this?. It was bad, Mikey C. kept asking me if I was alright, I gutted it out, realizing that I put myself in this position, and it was going to take work to get myself in a better position, and it was clear that folks at LA Boxing were going to work me, more that I would ever work myself, which I concluded was exactly what I needed. I signed up on the spot. Four and half months later I have gone from surviving the class, to going all out and improve more and more. I still have my issues with some things, but it is fun and I am 30 lbs lighter after 4-5 months.
On a side note, I also noticed a mental change, I travel a lot for work and I normally use travel as a excuse not to work out, but before my last trip I found my self going out of my way to get in a class before my flight. was this too much for a day one story?

My first day at LA Boxing/Commack was intimidating just to walk in the door in fear of looking like “an old man-midlife crisis, etc” but I was quickly greeted by a friendly and knowledgable staff that eased my fears and had me on the heavy bag within minutes. The hardest workout I have ever attempted. It quickly made me realize I am out of shape and overweight. I stuck with it and within a few weeks my cardio and endurance improved drastically. 9 months later- I am in great shape(at least I think so) and sparring regurarly. My Doctor was stumped as to how I was able to reverse my cholesterol and triglyceride issues and no longer need any medications. I feel like a million bucks again. My son also joined and loves it. Overall- LA boxing in Commack NY has a great friendly staff with tons of boxingkickboxing & jujitsu knowledge, very clean, and is a wonderful place to train.
BTW- Boxing has always been something I wanted to learn but never had the option where I lived. LA Boxing allowed me to fulfill this goal while improving my health.

I joined LA Boxing/Commack back in August 2010 and was immediately impressed with the staff. Over the years I have belonged to a couple of different gyms but none of those ever compared to the personal interaction I have had with the staff in my time at LA Boxing. After taking the variety of classes I decided to sign up for the personal training sessions that are offered. In the months since I have decided to try and attempt to take what I have learned and enter the NY Golden Gloves Tournament next year. Again the staff has exceeded my expectations in helping me achieve this goal by going above and beyond to help me train.
Overall LA Boxing/Commack has everything that a person would want in a gym: a wide variety of classes, excellent staff, workout equipment and a positive environment that makes all members comfortable.

I had recently moved to Chicago and was looking to join a gym. I was so sick of the gym routine -getting on the cardio machine and lifting, day in and day out. I had heard you can take a class for free, so I went to the Full Body Conditioning class that Robby teaches. . . I couldn’t walk for days! I loved the feeling of working so hard you thought you couldn’t continue, but Robby was right there giving the motivation I needed to push me through the workout. I knew I would be hooked immediately. Once I got a membership I started training with Norman – he is awesome. . . highly recommend him! Now that it is getting warmer boxing/kickboxing classes are a perfect cross workout to break up my running during the week. I love this place!

My first day at LA Boxing was amazing! I joined the gym a couple of months after having my second baby to get back into shape. I don’t think any other workout has made me sweat so much and I have SO much fun punching and kicking the heavy bag! The trainers are so enthusiastic and make the workout really fun. I have been going to LA box a couple times a week for the past month and I am already back to my pre-pregnancy weight and my core is getting much stronger :-)

I was very nervous and anxious walking in on my first day, thinking I would feel out of place and out of my league the entire time. The staff was great and helped me get my hands wrapped and got me a pair of gloves within the first couple of minutes after walking in the door. The workout was unreal, I told the instructors that I haven’t trained that hard since high school. While I was definitely dogging it, the instructor was using the perfrect combination of pushing me to keep going, as well as making me feel comfortable going at my own pace. I knew as soon as that first class had ended that I had made the right decision in joining LA Boxing. I can’t wait until my schedule changes so I can start getting involved in the kickboxing/MMA classes in addition to the boxing ones. A big ‘Thank You’ to Chris, Dave and Lonnie at the LA Boxing in Chantilly, VA.

It has been 1 year since my first day at LA Boxing/Shrewsbury. It was the hardest thing I ever did! I don’t regret one moment of it all! It changed my lifestyle and 3 pants sizes down! I couldn’t be more happy and can’t wait for the next class to come. The trainors are truly people who care about each and every individual. It has become a family event for us, and my son is a member now too. I can’t say enough about their time and attention they give to the kids. Very impressed. One of my friends had been trying to get me to join her at LA Boxing for several months. Even though I worked out regularly, I had been too nervous to take her up on the offer, as I had no boxing or kickboxing experience. When I went into the Norwalk gym, the greeter was extremely friendly, helpful in getting me wrapped up for the class. The instructor, Zach, was also welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Even though I regularly worked out, within 10 minutes I was sweating. It was such a hard workout and such a good change from regular cardio and weights. I was immediately hooked and new I had to sign up for the gym. Almost a month later, I still thoroughly enjoy the classes, experience, and am getting better. The variety of the classes continue to make each class difficult and challenging.

My first day at LA Boxing was kind of exciting, but as soon as the class started, I felt like I haven’t exercising forever. It was so hard, but I kept trying to keep up with the moves. After almost two months I already see the results. I lost 7 pounds so far and I thank LA Boxing. work out was always a boring thing to do for me, but after I joined this gym, this changed a lot, and now if I miss one day of class I feel like something is missing in my day.

I joined LA Boxing after seeing the advertisement on a city bus that I was stuck behind. Talk about turning a bad experience into a great one. I signed up that afternoon for my free class and I was hooked. I have to admit I was nervous and intimidated to walk through the front door and I circled the parking lot several times before deciding to go on in. I immediately felt welcome and after the workout had no doubts about joining. I coach boys basketball and I have to say that without LA boxing I wouldn’t have the endurance or fitness level to be able to compete with my team, I even challenge them now and actively participate in every practice. I can’t even begin to explain how truly thankful I am to have LA Boxing in my life. I now consider myself 22 years young and have the confidence to conquer all my fears. :)

I tried the Free trial at the La Boxing in Norwalk, CT with my cousin about 3 weeks ago. We were a little hesistant to go not really knowing what to expect. I was intimidated at just the thought of going to a boxing gym not really knowing if i would fit in. Once we got there it was clear that the atmosphere was a very friendly one and that there were people willing to help you. The class was easy to understand, very fun, and a great workout. The next week I went and signed up! I absolutely love it. The kickboxing classes are my absolute favorite!

You’re not the first one to get cold feet, Emily. What were you nervous about and what was it that changed your outlook?

It was one year ago this week that I tried my free class at LA Boxing,Shrewsbury. It hurt and I sweat like I never sweat before. That day changed my life and how I want to take of myself while have fun too! The trainors are all caring and knowledgable. We are all treated with respect. That first day changed my life and now 3 sizes down!! I never felt better. I walk in there tired and leave inspired…….and can’t wait to come to next class. So impressed I trust them with my son and he couldn’t be happier training in a place where he gets positivity and motivation to do better and better. Thanks LA/Shrewsbury!

We’re glad you gave us a chance, Greg. What (or who) was it that got you
    past the intimidation factor?

Before I joined LA boxing, I had not gone to the gym in 2 months. Even before the two months, my gym time was me trying to get in and out within 30 minute. I lost all my muscle and was completely out of shape. After working out at LA boxing for 1 week, I have already seen multiple changes. My body is already getting more toned, I am less winded, and I can feel myself being more motivated to make it to LA boxing, at least 4 times a week!

Sweet! Keep it up Jocelyn. What was it that brought you to LA Boxing in

My friend Ashley had been going there for four months… her arm muscles were amazing and I was just like I NEED THAT!

I was worried that the atmosphere would be very ‘fighter-ish’ and I am just looking for a solid workout. I went, it was great. I was also worried about such a workout given a recent broken back but was pleased to find that everyone was very supportive in “working at your own pace” and there wasn’t any kind of animosity for not making it through the whole workout. I have a lot to look forward to and am glad that I went!

Where to start? I was on the receiving end of the fists of a violent 6’4″, muscle-bound male family member over Christmas break in 2009. Circumstances at the time were that I was not in a state to defend myself other than backing off and covering my face; so I returned to North Carolina with a black eye, a dark blue eyelid, and scratched-up eyeball that required medical attention. Sound good so far?

The first Saturday after I returned I drove to “that new-looking gym with the boxing ring in the window” in Durham, right down the street. I walked in halfway through a class, seeing a diverse mix of folks shadow-boxing and about to start hitting the heavy bags.

I was wrapped up tightly by an enthusiastic Leopoldo, welcomed into the class, and did my best to keep up. By the end of class my arms and abs were sore but I felt great!

Now, about a year later, I have renewed my membership, and having pieced together bits of teaching here and there from Harold, Gavin, Leopoldo, Katrina, etc., I can go to the gym any time I want to & either join a class or else sort of freestyle my way through my own self-styled workout of jumping rope, hitting the bags, & lifting.

My goal of getting into shape has long been accomplished; now I go to maintain it & to add more muscle! My goal of learning how to defend myself is well under way, thanks to lessons in Brazilian jiu jitsu with Gavin, striking with Harold, and occasional sparring practice with members/friends with pads!

I am not of the mindset to seek revenge, but if I am again attacked by an untrained 6’4″ belligerent, I will feel more confident and be ready to avert violence to myself or loved ones.

Thank you LA Boxing for everything and I look forward to another great year!

My Day 1 at LA Boxing was when my boyfriend and I realized we were spending more hours at the gym a week then we were actually spending together. We needed a way to combine the two, and Zumba was not an option! LA Boxing is challenging and fun for both of us we are both devoted to going to classes and enjoying it together.

I tried the free session at LA Boxing in Norwalk, CT last week. I can tell you the first cardio class I attended was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life! Like many, I came very close to throwing up but I kept my composure and limped to the end of the finish line. I have taken three classes since, and while I have not weighed myself, I already feel the difference with each class I attend. I think this will end of being one of the best decisions I have ever made!

My first day at LA Boxing was a Muay Thai class. I thought I was going to die in the first 15 minutes when all we did was abs. But I kept going when the instructer said “before you fight anyone you have to fight yourself”. I loved the class! I’d been looking for a martial arts class for awhile, since I’m a woman living alone. All the classes I went to were supper lame. Middle aged out of shape people yelling hi-yah who are more concerned with belt color then fighting. I learned more about kicking, punching and blocking in my first class at LA Boxing then I did in several martial arts classes at other gyms. I joined that day!

Great line! Do you remember the instructor who said it?

  • http://profiles.google.com/bobby.ramsey Bobby Ramsey

I like the gym a lot and have plenty of stories to share. But since my first carefully written, supportive comment was rejected I see I don’t fit your obvious mold of pithy one-liners, pop philosophy, cute girls fawning about how boxing was so scary at first, or dramatic weight-loss stories. So I’ll just say I like the gym a lot and have gotten in better shape & feel more confident, but you can keep your cheesy stereotyped blog. I don’t give a damn if you publish this.

I joined LA Boxing Rockville, MD 1 year ago via a Groupon 1 month trial. I was hooked after the first workout! The instructors are helpful, friendly and always welcoming to new students. Each instructor has their own style…but the routines are all incredibly rigorous. There’s no doubt that I work hard each day I go to the gym.

I think that new members need to keep coming back a few times a week for a few months to get the full benefit of the workouts. It takes a while just to get the punches and patterns down before you can start paying attention to technique.

I am usually one of the oldest members in each class…but I can definitely keep up with people who are a few decades younger than I am. I feel better and much stronger. My aerobic capacity and stamina are 180 degrees better than 1 year ago. My clothes fit better and I have definitely lost unneeded inches and pounds.

I can’t believe that I look forward to working out 3 or 4 times a week. Instructors Randolph, Zack, and Ryan are the best in the LA Boxing organization!

My day 1 experience was challenging, but the positive re-enforcement to keep at it by the staff was motivating, encouraging and superbly professional. This encouragment was inspiring and I felt I could hang with everyone after about week. My initial goals were to first, have fun. If its boring, working out is unmotivating. Running to get in shape is monotinous, however the intense aerobic kickboxing classes, to compare, are fun and exciting. They have good music blasting in the background and amazing coaches taking you through exercise routines fit for a kickboxer/boxer using punching bags and other equipment which makes the whole experience fun and empowering for beginners and the advanced. LA Boxing has turned out to be the most exciting gym I’ve ever exercised in and I grew up playing all high school sports and some college which required a lot of gym time and conditioning. After school I lost touch with my athletic life-style. As one of the coaches said to me on Day 1 when I said that “I use to be an athlete” nervous and intimidated by the beauty and look of the gym, “you’re still an athlete, you’ve just been in the attic for awhile. Now we just need to dust you off.” My second goal was to learn kickboxing/boxing on the bags from the coaches and pro fighters and just maybe i could get the confidence to enter the ring with them and other Fight Team members. I really wanted to get back into something competative and toe to toe mma has always been exciting to me. My third goal is a perk of the first two goals which was to lose weight and have better cardio.

I have and still continue to reach these and more goals as I come up with them. I started Fight Team after about four weeks of aerobic kickboxing and for me this is my happy place and they made me feel like I was a part of the team on my first day. Don’t get me started on Fight Team! I love it! I only have positive things to say about the LA Boxing Fight Team, kickboxing aerobics and the staff that provide the training here. It has been an on going amazing experience for me. I’m getting into shape fast and the rewards are constant. And truly, if it wasn’t for the respectful, kind and encouraging way the coaches and managment treated me on day 1, I probably wouldn’t have made it to day 2. Well, I’m still here with LA Boxing/Fight Team and aerobics and I can hardly wait for the class to start.

I just finished my second MMA workout class at LA Boxing in Norwalk and it feels great. Everyone in the gym was very welcoming and helpful for my first week there. They personally show you the different moves before you start and make sure you are doing them correctly throughout the class. I thought I wasn’t too out of shape since I enjoy running but wow was it an amazing workout. I look forward to continuing these classes and trying new ones.

after hearing amazing things from friends who trained there , I took a kickboxing class at LA Boxing in Cherry Hill in October of 2010 . I had recently quit smoking in an effort to live a healthy lifestyle , and wanted to get in shape . after that first class , I was addicted . I joined that week , and since then have gone to the same class faithfully three nights a week , in addition to training on the side . I have lost 43 pounds to date , but more importantly made immense leaps in self-esteem . I’m in the best shape I have ever been in in my life , even though for four years I was a competitive cheerleader . I recommend taking classes at LA Boxing to countless people every day , and definitely think that joining was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made !

Best story ever! I started LA Boxing almost three years ago, and after my first class in Clarendon with Jerome Wilson, I could NOT even walk. I was so sore, it took almost a week to recover. But I knew I had to go back. Jerome bragged that if he trained any woman long enough, she would get a proposal from her significant other. Whatever. A year after training, I looked better than ever, and sure enough, my boyfriend proposed to me on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. I’m still boxing, and I feel amazing! It’s a huge rush, and I actually have arm definition I’ve never known before. LOVE IT.

We affectionately nicknamed our first class teacher Chuckgyver Jones, because we were pretty sure he was an enhanced combination of Chuck Norris, McGyver, and Indiana Jones.  And we’re pretty sure he could kick all 3 of their butts.  At the same time.  Chuckgyver (who we now know as Mike C, but still call Chuckgyver Jones) taught my first Kettlebells class, which is a freakin awesome workout.  He has a way of totally kicking your butt, but at an attainable level so you don’t want to kill him the whole time.  The other classes have been great too, but no one seems to beat our CGJ.  All the LA Boxing classes are addictive workouts, which is good, because I really needed to get addicted to working out again :)

I enjoyed my first class with La Boxing it was great.  Mark was patient and very tactful.  I got a full body work out and learned the proper techniques of throwing punches.  Every muscle in my body was sore.

Joining LA Boxing is 1 of the smartest things I could have
done for myself. After a long day at work, I’m stressed and aggravated, walk
into class and I visualize the person/persons that had stressed me out.
Several punches, jabs and I leave smiling and ready for another day! All the
trainers are top-notch at the Shrewsbury,NJ location.  They are constantly changing up the routine which makes for a exciting class!

I started at LA Boxing after my diagnosis of Graves disease and the removal of my thyroid gland. Talk about no metabolism! Immediately after the removal I gained 30 lbs. as doctors tried to adjust my medication. The weight never really came off; I was tired, sluggish and didn’t look or feel healthy. LA Boxing has helped me lose weight, feel better and strong, and taught me new skills. Who could ask for more?

Great experience, I loved the intensity of the class, and the teacher. I GOT a GREAT workout. Day 1 for me was awesome, I was worried I wasn’t going to get a good workout and I got more than enough.  I am definitely looking forward to going back, and I highly highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great workout and even greater results.

The other day was Day One! I left crushed and completely drained, but in no way was this a bad feeling, cause hours later after a great shower I felt this level of energy bursting for more Kickboxing, another workout. My workouts have always been bland untill now! Thank You LA Boxing for working out a great deal and taking my workout to a new level. You never know I may be the next 30′s something taking to the ring!!

Stressed and Overweight…I needed to make a change.  On a whim I decided to check out LA Boxing with a free class.  I am so glad I made that decision.  I am a week into my workout and have lost 13lbs.  I am totally addicted to the workouts and all the trainers are fabulous.  I was worried about being too out of shape, but they have worked with me and I feel better and stronger everyday.

My first day, I walked into the gym excited but nervous. I knew I was in reasonably good shape, and I figured I could handle anything the gym had to offer. I was wrong. Hard living took a noticeable toll on me and I had to call it quits before the session ended. I’m going back as soon as I can, and this time I’m giving it everything I’ve got. The staff is so friendly and supportive, and the workout is so intense that it’s impossible to stay away.
I can’t wait to post my results after a year of boxing!

Nice place to have a cardio workout. It’s more of a workout place than technical learning place. Maybe i misunderstood about the goal of the gym because since it’s called BOXING i thought they’d be teaching skills to better my skills that i already have instead it’s aerobic dancing but you’re only punching and doing basic full body workouts. IT’S DEFINITELY for people who wants to lose weight but not recommended for those who wants to compete amateur or looking for club to sponsor you in boxing/fighting events.
Pretty much most of the boxing class is hard workout session with punching bags with jumping jacks, bicycles, push ups, sit ups in between. I’d definitely update in the future as i go more into the workouts if i decide to and keep this post updated.

I work out 4 times a week; about 50 minutes of cardio with weights on some days. I was looking for variety and definitely got this at La Boxing but I think when you are starting with any new program be wary and ask lots of questions. I did not and tho I love a challenge they have not only boxing in their ” Beginners Class” but much more. I  sprained my ankle and have not been able to do my ordinary workout since so I would say really check out any new routine you are about to emark on.

My first day of kickboxing was great! I felt it working every part of my body especially my core! I felt my body shaking as I was doing the work outs.  I will definitely come back, but I want to make sure I can attend at least 3 classes in a week

i loved the work out! i havent worked out in many many years. i also had a hysterectomy in sept then hemorrhaged in oct. so was in the hospital and had a long recovery due to blood loss. i have kept in shape by low impact walking etc, but this i loved. it kept me focused, challenged and pushed me which i needed and liked. Pam was an awesome instructor and really helped point out where i need to improve! a good coach! i do wish i could come back. we just cant afford the membership right now, but this has inspired me to try and find a way to keep this kind of work out up! thank you for inspriring me! if i ever can afford it i will be back!

My Wife and I have been trying to find the right workout that would fit our lifestyle and keep us engaged. We’ve tried workout DVD’s but its too easy to be lazy and half ass a workout. We saw some flyers for LA Boxing Brentwood so we decided to drive by and take it look. To make a long story short, we tried a Boxing class with Michael A. and we’re hooked! I didn’t think I was that out of shape but Day 1 broke me AND my Wife down! We loved the class so much we both prepaid for a 1 year membership! I have no doubt in my mind that we will be able to accomplish our goals and exceed them working with the great staff at LA Boxing Brentwood.
